adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Jim Knopf has found a home! His story: Jim Knopf – two ears on four legs. At the moment, this charming fellow lives in a caring foster home in Germany and dreams of his own home where he will be loved and nurtured. Jim Knopf arrived in his foster home in early May and has been developing well since then. He now sleeps through until early morning and works diligently to become fully house-trained. He loves snuggling in his dog bed. He enjoys his daily walks very much and behaves quite well on the leash. While eating, he is still a bit rambunctious, but with his quick learning ability, he will master that soon. In the foster home, Jim Knopf has learned to play exuberantly with the other dogs and respect their boundaries. In the garden, he is now fully at ease and is no longer easily startled. Driving is no problem for him at all, and he has also opened his heart to children, although they should be dog-savvy, as he sometimes jumps up in excitement. Jim Knopf is a little adventurer who requires both physical and mental stimulation as a German Shepherd-Mix. His future family should be able to give him clear rules and tasks so that he can fully utilize his intelligence and work ethic. It is equally important that he learns to relax and unwind. He has typical working dog ears that are already beginning to stand up. However, puberty will come, and hearing, despite the large ears, may be a secondary priority. New situations sometimes scare him, but with loving support and patience, he will also overcome these hurdles. Jim Knopf is a little rough diamond who will grow into a wonderful companion with the right nurturing. We wish Jim Knopf a loving family that will offer him security, a warm dog bed, exciting walks, and enough contact with fellow animals. Do you want to give Jim Knopf a loving home and accompany him on his journey to becoming a balanced and happy dog? Then get in touch with us. Jim Knopf is looking forward to meeting you! Stand: 10.06.2024

About Jim Knopf

What life with Jim Knopf looks like

Jim Knopf is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jim Knopf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jim Knopf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jim Knopf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jim Knopf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jim Knopf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jim Knopf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jim Knopf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
