Adopt Jimmy

For interest, please email to register. Update 1.2 : Jimmy is a generally friendly companion, but needs clear boundaries set - if he senses any uncertainty towards him, he might pinch! I was named Jimmy and originally came from Hungary - I would have likely been sent to the dog heaven if not for an older couple who, along with the whole family, decided to take me in. At first, everything went well - I was attentive, well-mannered, and still a young puppy with just over a year. Training me was not deemed necessary as they already had dog experience - and that's how it stayed. But over time, I chose my own path, with no consequences - I had all the freedoms of the world, without commands, without ever saying "no." Then the worst happened - my master died in a car accident - my mistress was left alone with me, and somehow, we couldn't get along. I dragged her around, I never learned commands, and in the end, I even bit at her adult nephew who surprised me in the apartment. To say I did well would be a stretch - I was only defending my territory, something I had never known any differently. While I am otherwise a smart guy, barely 20 kg and still handsome, I have been neutered and of course have an EU Pass. - but despite all that, I had to leave my beloved home. Here at this breed Animal Shelter, they have promised me that I will now find the 100% forever home. And I believe they can do that! I am not a bad dog, no, I just need a little training paired with patience - then I will be the ideal travel companion!. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Jimmy

What life with Jimmy looks like

Jimmy is a adult dog waiting at Tierheim Hallein in Hallein.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jimmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jimmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hallein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jimmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jimmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hallein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jimmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jimmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hallein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jimmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
