Adopt Mieze unsere Heimkatze

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Update 10.10.25: Hardly had peace returned to the grounds at midday when there, behold, our Mieze made her comfortable patrol! Update: The miracle has happened - on July 14th, and the first workday for our Kati after the vacation - we were all moved to tears when Kati at 7 AM posted a picture of our home cat in the group, with the words: "She is back"! After a mere six weeks, incredible, what a beautiful start to the week! Mieze came, though a bit skinny, but in good spirits, ate, went, came back, ate again, and retreated. One sees - hope lasteth! On many more beautiful years with our valiant Samtpfote! Update: After approximately 17 years, we sadly have to inform you that our house cat and mouse hunter Mieze has not returned home since the end of Mail. We have not given up hope and Kati has been placing her daily fresh food in her own cat room. Though still hoping, we no longer really believe, and with heavy hearts, we have prepared her apartment for other needy indoor tigers. Should a miracle happen and she stands at the door - everything will be undone, and she will move back in. Mieze, our house cat at the animal shelter - she is the last of a wild gang of cats that remained from a deserted farmstead about 10 years ago. Initially, there were 11 wildcats, all unadoptable due to being sick or unapproachable. We have set up an apartment with a free roam to the riverbank for the Samtpfoten, they settled in quickly, and as they aged, they became less - until only Major and Mieze remained. When her companion crossed the rainbow bridge two years ago, she had her home to herself but no four-legged friends. But - for several months now, an unknown tomcat has been coming, of whom we only became aware through the wild camera. He has one eye, but it's obvious that Mieze has fallen for him - for the joy over his visit is great. He is now well-nourished, but only shows himself at night. Mieze, as seen in the video, is beside herself with joy, finally having found someone to snuggle with - but our two-leggeds have not yet earned her trust, though each of us has tried our best. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Mieze unsere Heimkatze

What life with Mieze unsere Heimkatze looks like

Mieze unsere Heimkatze is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierheim Hallein in Hallein.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mieze unsere Heimkatze, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mieze unsere Heimkatze?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hallein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mieze unsere Heimkatze on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mieze unsere Heimkatze if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hallein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mieze unsere Heimkatze already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mieze unsere Heimkatze isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hallein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mieze unsere Heimkatze and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
