Adopt Jimmy

Labrador Retriever · Male

and a very special dog – a six-year-old Labrador-Dachshund mixed breed who apparently couldn't quite decide which breed he wanted to be and simply became both. With the head and body of a Labrador and the short legs of a Dachshund, I bring a charming mix that instantly puts a smile on your face. At about 30 cm shoulder height and 22 kg body weight, I am a compact but quite strong companion whose weight should not be underestimated when walking or lifting me. Currently, I am in a foster home in the Saarland and can be met in person there if you are seriously interested. I am a thoroughly people-oriented, cuddly dog who seeks a lot of closeness and likes to be close to my humans. In my nature, I am calm, balanced, and uncomplicated, and I get along very well with other dogs. I enjoy being petted all over and can also be lifted without any problems. For my future home, I wish for a ground floor location or an apartment that is easily accessible by elevator. I would also be very happy with a yard or garden where I can relax and let the sun shine on my belly. Whoever gives this loving "Labradackel" a home will gain a loyal friend for life, enriching every day with his warm-hearted nature. If you want to meet me and give me a home, please don't hesitate to contact us.

About Jimmy

What life with Jimmy looks like

Jimmy is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jimmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jimmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jimmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jimmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jimmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jimmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jimmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
