Jinjin

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Jin Jin could travel through another organization! Her story: Galati, Romania. One would think that a dog of this breed would have an easier time finding a family, unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case for JinJin. She has been waiting for an application for 1.5 years, and there has not been a single one during that long period. We want to change that for the new year and hope that 2024 will be her year and she will finally be able to leave the country. Jinjin was rescued from the public shelter, and one can imagine how a sensitive breed like a Sharpei would suffer there, not only emotionally but also physically. These dogs struggle with the conditions there. However, her skin and eye problems have largely improved, and with special food, Jinjin is doing well and enjoys good health. She will likely always need the special food, but this should not be a hindrance for a family. She is approximately 3-4 years old, 55 cm tall, and a very friendly, active, and cuddly female dog. She gets along well with male dogs and also with cats. Female dogs she likes sometimes and sometimes not, it depends on the chemistry. SharPeis are strong-willed dogs that are not easily rattled. They are reserved towards strangers and want to please their human. We are looking for experienced people for Jinjin who either already have experience with this breed or are well-informed. Positive dog training classes would certainly be helpful and would certainly please both the human and the dog. Jinjin is house-trained, knows how to ride in a car, is friendly at the vet, and walks well on a leash. She has many advantages from living in a Romanian foster home, but what is missing for her final happiness are the travel arrangements to Germany or another country. Jinjin is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and brings her own pet ID. She can travel to Germany or another country after a positive application. Many thanks Lotti v. P.! You gave Jinjin her name and support her with a monthly sponsorship!

About Jinjin

What life with Jinjin looks like

Jinjin is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jinjin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jinjin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jinjin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jinjin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jinjin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jinjin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jinjin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
