adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Joe has earned his ticket to happiness! His story: Who can resist those sweet eyes? Probably no one, which is why we hope that Joe will be seen by people who currently have a spot in their heart free. Joe was found alone on the street and now lives in a private shelter with many other dogs on a large, fenced-in property. In the shelter, he shows himself to our colleagues as a whirlwind, very friendly and open, wanting to be part of everything. He has a very sweet nature. Joe is a handsome young male dog, and it's likely there's a terrier in him. He is approximately 3 years old, 45 cm tall, and gets along well with other dogs. Joe lived for a while in a foster home, where he got a taste of life in a household. Joe has a shortened tail, which is why the entry into Switzerland is not allowed. But we are sure that he will be seen soon in Germany or another country. Like every dog coming from abroad, Joe must still settle in and get used to the new life in a foreign household and everyday life. We are therefore looking for people who can bring enough time, love, and patience and also want to learn dog ABC with him. Joe is a small, very eager and curious male dog, he will surely have fun with physical and mental exertion and make a great companion for many leisure activities. Only the right family is still missing, and in the meantime, Joe must still wait. A dog buddy can happily wait for Joe in the new home, but cats are not an option, as he liked to chase them around in the foster home. A positively reinforced training style is also a prerequisite, along with a lot of time for settling in, love, and patience. Then Joe will surely develop well. Joe travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home, bringing his own pet ID with him and can be adopted by someone who falls in love with this wonderful terrier boy named Joe. Many thanks to Fabienne! You gave Joe his name! As of: 10.06.

Vielen Dank Fabienne! Du hast Joe seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 10.06.2024

About Joe

What life with Joe looks like

Joe is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
