Adopt Joey

Bull Terrier · Unknown

Joey is a nearly 4-year-old Miniature Bull Terrier (4 in June) looking for a loving new home due to a change in circumstances. He is neutered, microchipped, and fully up to date with his vaccinations (next booster due in October). Joey is in great health with no known medical issues. Joey has a lovely, affectionate temperament and is an absolute joy in the home. He is well behaved, not destructive, and has never been a chewer. He enjoys relaxing during the day, moving between his beds and crate, and is very settled indoors. He is crate trained and happily puts himself to bed when told “bedtime.” He currently has two meals a day (morning and early evening) and has a good routine. Joey was hand-reared from birth after losing his mum, which has made him especially people-focused and very loving with those he knows. He gets on well with people, although he can be a little excitable when first meeting someone. Due to his reactivity around other dogs, Joey would be best suited to a home where he is the only pet. He currently enjoys running freely in secure dog fields and can be walked in quieter areas with careful management. Joey would suit: * An experienced owner* A home without other dogs or pets* Someone able to continue managing his dog reactivity* A household where he can get lots of love and attention This is a very difficult decision, and we are committed to finding Joey the right, long-term home where he will be safe, happy, and well cared for. Home checks and the right match are essential. If you feel you could offer Joey the home he deserves, please get in touch w

About Joey

What life with Joey looks like

Joey is a adult bull terrier dog waiting at Absolute Bull Terriers in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Absolute Bull Terriers handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Absolute Bull Terriers will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Absolute Bull Terriers early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
