Adopt Johann

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 2 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Johann has found a home! His story: Fantanele, Romania. Mimmi, Johann, Izzy, Melinda, and Jantje are the charming puppies of our Lisa. They were found together on the roadside in a box and had great fortune in meeting their life savers. Now, the little family lives in the private shelter of Fantanele, but unfortunately also in outdoor runs and not particularly comfortably. We hope very much that all of them will soon win their ticket to happiness. From mid-May, the puppies will be ready to travel. The little Johann is a truly adorable puppy who shows himself to the helpers as extremely friendly, playful, and curious. Our helpers are very in love and can't stop smiling when they are in the run with the little family. We assume that all will reach a small size. Johann is looking for people who don't expect anything from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has to learn a lot. One or another mishap shouldn't be held against him and Johann should always be accompanied with a positive reinforcement training style. He is already looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to the puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding puberty phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far and the ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently—but lovingly. And there is also good news: This phase also passes! Our Johann is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated for his travel arrangements. He brings his EU pet passport with him and can travel after a positive. Are you falling in love with this sweet guy? Many thanks to Mareike B.! You have given Johann his name!

Verliebst du dich in diesen zuckersüßen Kerl? Vielen Dank Mareike B.! Du hast Johann seinen Namen geschenkt!

About Johann

What life with Johann looks like

Johann is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Johann, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Johann?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Johann on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Johann if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Johann already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Johann isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Johann and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
