Johnny

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Mischling Johnny is looking for his luck - a little explorer with a big heart Little Johnny and his sister Kinga were taken in by our Bulgarian animal welfare colleagues at the local shelter. There are now almost 50 puppies waiting for their chance - and Johnny is also hoping to travel to his own home or a loving foster home in October. Johnny is a cheerful, open and curious puppy. He loves playing with the other dogs and running through the world. He approaches people openly, enjoys petting and gets along well with his fellow dogs. We wish Johnny people who welcome him with patience and love and give him time to settle into his new life. Of course, he still needs to learn the dog alphabet - house training, staying alone, driving a car and all the many new impressions of everyday life are still unknown to him. With loving consistency, care and a good dose of humor, Johnny will master all of this step by step. Johnny wants nothing more than to arrive, be loved, discover the world together, be age-appropriately exercised and enjoy many cuddly moments. Anyone who is aware that a little puppy will become a loyal companion for many years will find Johnny a wonderful friend for life. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack with past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to settle into their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Johnny, please contact the responsible SALVA Hundehilfe mediator. We would also be very happy to provide a foster home. Here's Johnny's video Video 2

DE·Show original

About Johnny

What life with Johnny looks like

Johnny is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Johnny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Johnny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Johnny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Johnny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Johnny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Johnny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Johnny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
