Joker

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Joker lives with us in Spain and despite his one-legged disability, he is an incredibly cheerful and lively little guy. He is hardly held back by his condition and simply enjoys life and spreads his good mood. However, his disability may require veterinary treatment in the future. It is not excluded that the affected paw may even need to be amputated over the course of his life. Therefore, we are seriously considering whether Joker should stay with us in Spain permanently. Veterinary care is significantly cheaper there and we can ensure that he gets everything he needs. Therefore, there are two options for Joker: Maybe we will find the very special family that consciously chooses him and knows that higher veterinary costs may arise in the future. Or Joker can live his life with us in Spain. ❤️ We would be very grateful for sponsors who accompany him on his journey and contribute to securing his care in the long term with their support. Joker himself doesn't care much about all this. He just wants to live, play, be happy - and that's exactly what he should be allowed to do. 🐾🧡

DE·Show original

About Joker

What life with Joker looks like

Joker is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierleben Deutschland e.V. in Landau in der Pfalz.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joker, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joker?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierleben Deutschland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joker on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joker if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierleben Deutschland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Joker already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joker isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierleben Deutschland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joker and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
