adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Jola has found her people! Her story: Jola, our little "Füchschen" The pretty Jola with the fox-brown fur had the huge stroke of luck to find a place in our Stray Nest in Germany. Here she waits now for her people. But where are you, the people who will give Jola a loving home? Jola is about 1.5 to 2 years old and is slowly beginning to trust humans. She is a loving female dog who is still struggling with her insecurity. Once one, however, engages with her intensively and gives her attention and affection, she warms up and begins to trust. Then she also allows being stroked and enjoys the closeness of her trusted people. In the yard, Jola still often seeks the protection of the hut. Due to the move from Romania to the Stray Nest, she is currently still reserved towards the volunteers – which is not her fault. We assume, however, that she will show the same trust after settling in as she did in Romania. There, she already had trust in the helpers, and on the meadow, she was always relaxed and happy when walking. Jola is familiar with the harness and leash: In Romania, she learned to wear the harness and walk on the leash. She gets along well with her fellow animals, but has not yet met the cats. For our "Füchslein," we wish empathetic people who do not place any expectations on her at first. In her new home, she should be allowed to arrive at her own pace and orient herself. It is important to build trust and attachment at the beginning – the rest will then almost take care of itself. After settling in, it would be sensible to have her upbringing accompanied by dog training classes that work with positive reinforcement. Children should already be older and know the responsible handling of animal protection dogs.

About Jola

What life with Jola looks like

Jola is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
