Jolene (& Dora)

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Kitten · 5 months

Hello, we’re Dora and Jolene, two little 5-month-old girls looking for a home where we can feel safe, loved, and brave enough to let our little personalities shine. We haven’t had the easiest start in life, and we came into care from another rescue. The world can feel like a rather big and scary place when you’re only small, so we can be a little nervous when meeting new people. We’re still learning that some humans are kind and that it's ok to trust them. Since arriving here, we’ve started to grow in confidence, and every bit of bravery is a big achievement for us. We’re beginning to discover that perhaps the world isn’t quite so frightening after all. We just need someone willing to believe in us and give us the time we need to work it all out.Luckily, we have each other. We’re very best friends, and wherever one of us goes, the other is never far behind. When life feels a little overwhelming, there’s nothing quite like having your sister beside you. Our favourite place to be is curled up together in a big, snuggly bed, tucked up close and feeling safe in our own little world. We’re also rather fond of finding a lovely sunbeam and stretching out together to warm our fur. We've also recently started finding our more playful side. Although we're not quite confident enough to do it in front of people yet, when the staff come back into the room after leaving us alone for a little while, they notice that all of our toys have magically moved around! We’re looking for a patient, understanding family who will let us settle in at our own pace. We might not be the kittens who rush straight over to greet you or demand attention from the moment you walk through the door, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have so much to give. We simply need a little help discovering how lovely life with a family can be.Imagine being the person we finally learn to trust. The person whose presence makes us feel safe. The person we gradually become brave enough to approach, until one day you realise that the two nervous little girls who first arrived have blossomed into happy, confident cats right before your eyes. That’s what we’re hoping for. We’re only 5 months old, with our whole lives ahead of us. We have so much potential and so much to learn. We just need someone to give us that chance.Could you be the person who helps us finally feel at home? About Jolene (& Dora)

What life with Jolene (& Dora) looks like

Jolene (& Dora) is a large kitten mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jolene (& Dora), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jolene (& Dora)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jolene (& Dora) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jolene (& Dora) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jolene (& Dora) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jolene (& Dora) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jolene (& Dora) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
