Joni

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Joni is a young, 4-year-old female dog who struggles with her stay in the animal shelter. Up until now, her life lacked understanding and respect for canine needs. She arrived with us in a harness, extremely stressed and intimidating to humans. However, it quickly became clear what led to her behavior, and that with the right approach, the female dog can quickly form a bond and trust her caregiver, establishing a beautiful relationship. Due to difficulties in interacting with other dogs, the presence of numerous unfamiliar animals daily overwhelms her. Additionally, it was discovered that her previous owner had neglected her hip issues, which are currently being treated. Joni has already undergone the first operation, with a second scheduled around March. Given the severity of the procedures, rehabilitation is recommended, which is not easily achievable in an animal shelter. Therefore, it would be best to find a temporary home or new guardians who will take this beautiful girl under their wing. Considering her behavioral issues (which are influenced by the ongoing pain), cooperation with a behaviorist will be necessary. Additionally, physical therapy care should help her regain full mobility as quickly as possible.

PL·Show original

Joni jest to młoda, 4 letnia suczka, która ciężko znosi pobyt w schronisku. Do tej pory w jej życiu brakowało zrozumienia i szacunku do psich potrzeb. Trafiła do nas w kolczatce, ekstremalnie zestresowana i odstraszająca człowieka.

About Joni

What life with Joni looks like

Joni is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Wrocław in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Wrocław handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Wrocław will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Wrocław early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
