Josef Emil

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Animal Welfare Advocate: Virginia Georgieva, born approximately between January and May 2025. Gender: Male. Location: Bulgaria. Neutered: Yes. FIV Test: Negative. FeLV Test: Negative. Disabilities: Emil had to have one eye removed. Gets along with: Children: Unknown. Cats: Yes. Dogs: Unknown. Requirements: Must be kept exclusively indoors; NO outdoor access. A balcony or terrace is desirable (if available, secure fencing is required). Josef comes from an animal hoarding case. In a completely neglected apartment, 24 cats were living in extremely cramped conditions. The resident was completely overwhelmed by the situation and unable to adequately care for either himself or the animals. The conditions were shocking: urine and feces were found everywhere, most of the cats were severely emaciated and left to their own devices. Emil came from a household where the number of cats had steadily increased over the years. The elderly owner had initially wanted to help stray cats but eventually became overwhelmed by the care needed for so many animals. Virginia gradually managed to place the cats in her animal shelter. Emil arrived at the shelter with an already severely damaged eye. Since it could no longer be saved, it had to be removed. Josef and Emil are two lively young tomcats who bring life and joy into any home. Together, they make a wonderful pair: wherever there’s activity, they curiously poke their noses in, dash around the house together, and simply always seem to be right in the middle of things. Once their daily routine is over, the two instantly switch into relaxation mode. They love being pampered, curl up comfortably, and purr loudly in competition with each other. These two absolutely lovable cats will certainly keep you entertained! Sometimes the best friendships develop precisely when you need them most. Josef and Emil met at the animal shelter and have been a real dream team ever since. They spend their days together, playing, cuddling, and enjoying each other’s company. That’s why we’d like them to spend the rest of their lives together. Perhaps somewhere out there is already a family that will fall in love with these two wonderful cats.

About Josef Emil

What life with Josef Emil looks like

Josef Emil is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Josef Emil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Josef Emil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Josef Emil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Josef Emil if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Josef Emil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Josef Emil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Josef Emil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
