Josie

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 5 months

*Reserved* Age: born *05/2025. Gender: female/spayed Compatibility: second cat, dog-friendly Housing: apartment with secured balcony/garden, possibly outdoor access Health: tested negative (FIV/FeLV), vaccinated (rhinotracheitis/panleukopenia), microchipped Adoption fee: 230 euros Josie is the heart and soul of her foster home. She was born together with her siblings on a horse farm. The little ones were already almost five months old when they were rescued. At the foster home, however, Josie quickly proved to be remarkably people-oriented—when it was the right person, that is. Josie doesn't like all people, but when she loves someone, she does so with wild enthusiasm and wholeheartedly. At first, she's very cautious, but behind that shyness lies an enormous amount of curiosity. She wants to see everything, understand everything, explore everything—especially around her human. Josie loves to sleep on her human, whether in bed or on their lap during home office hours. As is typical for young cats, she’s also very playful and likes to carry her toys into bed with her human. Due to her curiosity and energy, she needs people who enjoy actively playing with their cats and coming up with new activities for them. Actually, her foster mom would have loved to keep Josie herself, but unfortunately it just doesn’t work to be the favorite human of two cats who are reluctant to share you. Sadly, there can’t be a shared home for both of them. Josie is looking for an animal playmate who isn’t quite as people-oriented (i.e., not competitive) and with whom she gets along extremely well—even independently of her human. Alternatively, she’d need several caregivers so that the affection of the furry friends can be spread out and jealousy can be avoided. A connected balcony is a “must”; outdoor access in a safe residential area is also conceivable. The foster home is located in Erftstadt. I’m interested in this cat. Discover more cats

*Reserviert* Alter: geb. *05/2025. About Josie

What life with Josie looks like

Josie is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenschutzbund Köln in Köln.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Josie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Josie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenschutzbund Köln handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Josie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Josie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenschutzbund Köln will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Josie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Josie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenschutzbund Köln early rather than rehoming privately; they know Josie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
