Josué

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Josué is not a dog that loudly begs for attention. He is not the one who jumps up or wags his tail wildly to please. Josué is quiet. And precisely in this lies his greatest strength, but also his biggest misfortune. Because in a world where dogs are loved especially when they are loud and obviously happy, Josué was repeatedly overlooked. His life began with rejection. At just six months old, he was given up at the animal shelter because he didn't move, because he was quiet, because he was afraid. Josué came as a puppy and remained for years. Then finally there was a chance. A young man took him in. Josué lived in an apartment, loved the sofa, went out obediently. For the first time, he had a home. But when the young man's father died, Josué was returned. The person needed "more" from his dog - more emotions, more comfort, more obviousness. Josué couldn't give that. Not in the way it was expected. And so he lost his home a second time. Months followed in the animal shelter again. Until Cristina came. A woman who understood that love is not always loud. With her, Josué experienced his most beautiful chapter yet. He went hiking, accompanied her to school, went on group outings with over 30 people and their dogs. He was calm, relaxed, a perfect companion. And then something happened that made everyone cry: Josué, who always slept alone on the sofa, sought Cristina's company one night. He came to her to sleep next to her. For the very first time in his life, he showed on his own initiative that he wanted to belong. But fate was not kind again. Cristina was transferred to another city for work and could not take Josué with her. And so he is now back in the animal shelter again. Josué is a special dog. He travels calmly in the car, doesn't beg at the table, doesn't bark, behaves impeccably indoors. He loves walks outdoors and enjoys swimming. The only thing that unsettles him is fireworks - then he needs someone who gives him security.

DE·Show original

Josué ist still.

About Josué

What life with Josué looks like

Josué is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Josué, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Josué?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Josué on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Josué if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Josué already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Josué isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Josué and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
