Josy *2021/22 – Handicaphund, Pflegestelle oder Zuhause gesucht

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Country of origin: Romania Breed: Mixed breed Gender: Female Color: White and black Shoulder height: approx. 45–50 cm Date of birth: approx. 2021/22 Location: Romania/Campina Special feature: Left hind leg amputated, stub tail Update May 2026: Three-legged Josy bravely carries her fate on three legs. Every day she fights her way through life without complaining, even though a piece of her carefree nature has been taken away. While other dogs run and play joyfully, Josy has to cope with her limitation. It’s especially sad that many people first notice her missing leg—and not the wonderful dog behind it. Yet Josy has so much love to give. She wishes for nothing more than a person who won’t judge her by her disability but will see her heart instead. Despite everything, Josy hasn’t lost her zest for life. Each day she hopes to finally arrive and find a home where she’ll be loved just as she is—a home where no one notices her missing leg, but only her loyal eyes and her loving soul. Josy is waiting—and with each passing day, her wish for her own little basket and a family grows stronger. If you could tell me a few details about Josy (age, character, compatibility with dogs/cats, whether she’s shy or outgoing), I could make the text even more personal and touching. ———— UPDATE April 2025: JOSY is currently still somewhat uncertain around people. She can be lured with treats and will take them from your hand—but then immediately takes a step back. Overall, she appears cautious, but not completely aloof. With her fellow kennel mates, the three-legged girl gets along well. ———— This sweet girl is new to Campina and is currently trying to integrate into the existing pack. Unfortunately, we don’t know how she lost her tail and leg, but she seems to be coping well with her handicap. A caregiver who knows her well loved to scratch her belly, and she thoroughly enjoyed this attention; but even strangers like us soon earned her trust, and after a short time she happily let us pet her and eagerly accepted the treats we brought along. In her mixed pack, she consistently showed herself to be compatible. Contact: Our dogs are vaccinated (against rabies and with two basic vaccinations), chipped, and equipped with an EU pet passport. At our expense (we cover the lab fees), they are tested for common Mediterranean diseases: babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, leishmaniasis, rickettsiosis, filariasis, hepatozoonosis, and anaplasmosis. They are only placed in homes after a positive pre-check (home visit) against a protection fee and with a protection contract. Important documents: Self-disclosure form for adopters Self-disclosure form for foster homes *The information provided about the dogs (especially those still in Romania) is given without guarantee. The records reflect snapshots only. The dogs were documented by volunteer helpers to the best of their knowledge and belief. Therefore, there may be discrepancies regarding age, size, gender, health, and even behavior. We are an active alliance partner! Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V.

Can I adopt Josy *2021/22 – Handicaphund, Pflegestelle oder Zuhause gesucht if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. What happens if Josy *2021/22 – Handicaphund, Pflegestelle oder Zuhause gesucht isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
