Joy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

animal rescuer: Vania Tzoneva born: approximately August 2025 Gender: female Location: Bulgaria spayed: yes FIV test: negative FeLV test: negative Disabilities: none compatible with: Children: not known Cats: yes Dogs: not known Requirements: NONE Single housing only suitable for apartment living, NO outdoor access Balcony or terrace desired (if available, safety measures are required) Joy and her two sisters were brought by a woman to a veterinarian - supposedly for spaying. She stated that the cats were strays. However, this seemed questionable from the beginning: All three were healthy and very social with people. The woman left the cats at the clinic and said she would go get some money. But she never returned. Since it was the veterinarian where our animal rescuer also regularly brings her protected animals, he contacted her. Vania did not hesitate long and took all three sisters in. In the first days with Vania, Joy - like her sisters - was somewhat reserved and cautious. Now she has settled in well and shows herself to be a loving, gentle, and very social cat girl. She meets people friendly and openly, and enjoys cuddles very much. She also gets along well with other cats. Joy is not a daredevil, but a delicate, playful soul who likes to explore her surroundings at a calm pace. Joy is looking forward to moving into a loving home where she can play, cuddle, and simply feel at home. With her gentle and affectionate nature, she will quickly win the hearts of her people. Joy would like to share her life with an existing kitten of similar age or move in with one of her sisters.

About Joy

What life with Joy looks like

Joy is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
