Adopt Joy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

🔥Joy is a very calm and cuddly little one at home, clean and without destructive behavior. She is slightly timid in her environment and around men but remains curious and joyful. She is very well socialized with her other animal species, showing no fear, and is very sociable. She will definitely make you laugh on walks with her little deer-like jumps or her little eyes when she knows you have treats. She is quite greedy. OK, dogs, no idea about cats. ➡️ Needs: Joy is a super little one, if you play with her, it’s a plus because she loves to run! But it’s not vital if you take her out properly (let her smell, dig, explore several places), she will still sleep like a baby. Ideally, some free walks are possible, like the beach which she adores, and a fenced field for her to play with friends. 📖Education: Joy is easy to live with but doesn’t have recall and still pulls a bit on the leash/leads. She knows how to walk on sidewalks but has trouble managing her emotions when she sees a fellow animal of the same species. Some training classes are needed to refine all of this because she is very intelligent. A word from the Shelter: If you're looking for a little one that combines family and sports, she’s a dog who checks all the boxes, greedy, funny, energetic, and intelligent. Despite her past, she is an incredible little one with a good learning capacity.

About Joy

What life with Joy looks like

Joy is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Association Thalya Protection in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Thalya Protection handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Thalya Protection will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Thalya Protection early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
