Julian

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Julian could live with children aged 10+. He would like to be the only pet in the home and will require outdoor access. Julian is a wonderful young lad who didn’t take long to make himself at home here at the shelter. Although he was a little shy initially, he soon warmed up and showed our staff and volunteers what a sweet boy he is! He will often be waiting at the front his pen to say hello to his human friends and will be straight over for a fuss! He will rub into us and follow us around the cattery to make sure he’s getting as much attention as possible! He also enjoys playing, particularly with string toys and feather toys. Julian has been a lovely chap to spend time with, but was a little shy initially when he first arrived, and also got quite overwhelmed at our vets, so any children he was to live with would need to be cat-savvy and able to respect his boundaries and give him space when needed. He has also shown an aversion to other cats and so would be happiest as the only pet in the home. This handsome chap is such a great little character and has been a pleasure to care for during his stay with us. He is so desperate for a family of his own to play and cuddle with – we have no doubt he will return their affection tenfold and make a wonderful addition to his forever home.

About Julian

What life with Julian looks like

Julian is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Julian, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Julian?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Julian on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Julian if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Julian already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Julian isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Julian and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
