Coco & Soxs

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Coco & Soxs could live with children aged 10+ and require an indoor-only environment. Coco & Soxs are a very sweet, but shy pair who have taken a little while to settle in to the shelter. Coco (left) spends a lot of her time hiding away in her cat tree, however, she will jump down if our staff sit with her and she will happily come to have a little fuss made of her. She is easily startled and will run back to her hiding space if feeling unsure or overwhelmed. Soxs (right) also typically spends most of his time hiding in their cat tree. He has taken a little longer to build his confidence with our team, but he has now begun rolling around on the floor next to them, enjoying having some attention. He loves his lick-e-lix treats and they are a great way to begin making friends with him, but – similar to Coco, he will retreat to the safety of his hiding space at any sudden noise or movement. This lovely pair are genuinely a pleasure to spend time with, they are sadly just finding the world around them a little scary at the moment and have found adjusting to the shelter environment difficult. They need a patient and understanding home who can offer them the time, space and gentle encouragement they need to be able to let their guards down and continue building their confidence. We have no doubt that, once in the safety and security of a loving and supportive forever home, this delightful duo will soon be coming out of their shells and showing their new family more and more of their true, wonderful characters. We are sure they will both make incredibly rewarding additions and we can’t wait to see them spoilt rotten and living their best, stress-free life with their lucky forever family! Soxs has required some pain-relief for sore hips whilst in our care. Whilst not currently on any medication, this is something that will need monitoring and may require future treatment. Any potential rehomer should be aware that this will be classed as a pre-existing condition and won’t be covered by pet insurance. The rehoming team will discuss Coco & Soxs’ veterinary history in further detail with any successful applicants.

About Coco & Soxs

What life with Coco & Soxs looks like

Coco & Soxs is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coco & Soxs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coco & Soxs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coco & Soxs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coco & Soxs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coco & Soxs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coco & Soxs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coco & Soxs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
