JULIEN, a beautiful Vietnamese pot-bellied pig available for adoption through the association UMA (44450 Divatte sur Loire) SIREN NUMBER: 794786228 GENDER: Male DATE OF BIRTH: 31/07/2018 IDENTIFICATION: Not identified LOF/LOOF: Not applicable NUMBER OF ANIMALS IN THE LITTER: 4 WEIGHT: Unknown ALLEGIANCE: Okay with other animals of the same species, farm animals, and poultry. VETERINARY CARE AND HEALTH: Castrated. In good health. REASON FOR REMOVAL OR ADOPTION: Abandoned. TEMPERAMENT: Julien is not easily approachable but can still be approached. He loves to eat, nibble on grass, or nap in a hole he digs. Do you like his face? Come meet him in his foster family! PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS: A yard of about 500m². There must be a hay shed. In winter, the pig must be able to make a warm den with hay to stay warm. Pigs have little hair and get cold. An ideal shelter is a garden shed, isolated, with an enclosed area where the animal can be covered in hay. There must be no steps, the shed must be at ground level. They destroy everything and dig, it's instinctive for them, so don't be too meticulous, the yard will be a pile of earth. A very sturdy fence or an electric fence is needed. Pigs also need a wallow (a permanently wet area, mud based on clay) to roll in to protect themselves from the sun (a pig doesn't sweat) and parasites. There must be a shaded area, the sun is very dangerous for pigs, even black. Don't hesitate to hydrate the skin with natural products. Pigs need to be dewormed twice a year. Hooves need to be trimmed. The diet should consist of horse pellets that are moistened with an addition of fresh fruits and vegetables, a drizzle of canola oil, and cereals. One-third of the fruits should be compared to the vegetables, and avoid overly sweet fruits. For vegetables, balance them: cooked potatoes (otherwise they are toxic), lentils, and carrots for a good balance. Try to make very balanced bowls to avoid weight gain that can lead to serious health problems. They must have hay available at all times if there is no more grass in their yard. Dry kibble for dogs or cats is not at all suitable. A vegetarian diet is ideal. Chocolate and salt are toxic for pigs. The meal can be served in a bowl filled with pebbles or plastic balls to make them eat more slowly. Pigs get bored, so it is imperative for them to live with one or more other animals of the same species. A ball or branches will make excellent toys for them. JULIEN, beau cochon vietnamien à adopter via l'association UMA (44450 Divatte sur Loire) NUMÉRO DE SIREN : 794786228 SEXE : Mâle DATE DE NAISSANCE : 31/07/2018 IDENTIFICATION : Non identifié LOF/LOOF : Non NOMBRE D'ANIMAUX DANS LA PORTÉE : 4 POIDS : Inconnu ENTENTES : Ok congénères, animaux de ferme et de basse-cour. SOINS VÉTÉRINAIRES ET SANTÉ : Castré. En bonne santé. CAUSE DU RETRAIT OU DE LA PRISE EN CHARGE : Abandon. About Julien

What life with Julien looks like

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Julien, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Julien?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 30 Millions d'Amis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Julien on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Julien if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 30 Millions d'Amis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Julien already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Julien isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 30 Millions d'Amis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Julien and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
