Julio

Podenco · Male · Adult · 8 years

Julio - a small Podenco looking for his happiness ❤️ Julio is starting to thaw. We really hope he can leave the Perrera soon and find people where he can arrive. The approximately 7-8 year old Julio has probably experienced a lot. His shortened tail and past suggest that his previous life may not have been particularly nice. Julio is a really handsome little guy with slightly shaggy fur and a very special face. Initially, he shows himself a bit shy and reserved. But in the video you can see how he cautiously makes contact, becomes curious and enjoys affectionate attention. A small dog who apparently needs to learn again that people can also be good. ❤️ Julio came to the Perrera together with Manu and Aarón, which we also introduce to you. Now a whole new chapter should begin for him. A life without fear, without concrete floor and without the uncertainty of what the next day will bring. Who gives this lovable senior dog the chance of a new beginning in a home or foster home? We would really like to see his story end happily. JULIO AT A GLANCE Age: approx. 7-8 years Size: medium weight: approx. 12 kg Special feature: shortened tail Character: loving, initially a bit shy and reserved Location: Perrera in Galicia

JULIO AUF EINEN BLICK Alter: ca. 7–8 Jahre Größe: mittelgroß Gewicht: ca. 12 kg Besonderheit: gekürzter Schwanz Charakter: lieb, anfangs etwas schüchtern und zurückhaltend Aufenthaltsort: Perrera in Galicien

About Julio

What life with Julio looks like

Julio is a small adult podenco dog waiting at Hundehoffnung-Berlin in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Julio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Julio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehoffnung-Berlin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Julio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Julio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehoffnung-Berlin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Julio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Julio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehoffnung-Berlin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Julio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
