Julito

At the animal shelter since: November 2024 Estimated Age: Born around October 2017 Estimated Shoulder Height: About 60 – 69 cm Learn more about Julito in additional videos! Gentle giant looking for his people: Do you share affection with Julito? This fur nose was rescued from the Romanian streets and taken into the animal shelter, although we suspect that he had once a home before being abandoned. Find more information on how dogs come to the animal shelter and answers to general questions in our animal protection FAQ. Julito is a cuddly male dog who is very open and interested towards people from the start. Even before one enters his enclosure, he seeks contact and focuses entirely on his visitors. In direct interaction, he lets himself be touched and stroked immediately, enjoys closeness and actively requests it. He shows himself to be secure, friendly, and absolutely attentive. However, Julito seems to have difficulty understanding other dogs here at the animal shelter. On a daily basis at the shelter, Julito is often full of joy and brings along plenty of energy. He is very playful and loves nothing more than ball games. Additionally, he hugs close to one and sometimes "forgets" how big he actually is. Despite his size, he is very friendly, rather submissive, and occasionally exhibits puppy-like behavior. Outdoors, Julito has great enthusiasm for walks and enjoys being out and about. At first, he is often highly motivated and runs off briskly, but becomes calmer after a short time and is overall easy to handle. Putting on and taking off his harness works without any issues. Sadly, Julito suffers from hip dysplasia. Our adoption team knows best about his exact health condition. If you have more questions, feel free to send us a message. For Julito, we wish a home that appreciates a large, people-oriented dog, provides clear orientation, and accompanies him lovingly yet consistently through daily life. Julito desires sufficient physical and mental stimulation. We seek people who are aware that shelter dogs come with some history. We can never predict how a dog will react to life in Germany. Therefore, we look for individuals who bring patience, perseverance, and goodwill. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are considering adopting, read through the adoption process first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before travel arrangements (with the exception of puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you still have questions, please feel free to write the animal shelter's placement team a message.

Julito leidet leider an Hüftdysplasie.

About Julito

What life with Julito looks like

Julito is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Julito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Julito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Julito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Julito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Julito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Julito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Julito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
