adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process June has found her home! Her story: Our beautiful June is causing us great concern… June was brought to the public shelter in Bistrita by the dog catchers along with her three puppies, Ocean, Azzuro, and Féli. She is currently very shy and scared and has not yet allowed the local helpers to touch her. Unfortunately, we do not know what she has gone through, but June will surely need a longer time to rebuild trust with people. June is very special because she has only one eye. Her left eye is completely missing. She weighs around 25 kg with a height of about 50 cm, giving her a pleasant medium size. June’s fur pattern is beautiful. She has a gray-white fur pattern with several unique, milk coffee-colored passages. This makes her a real standout! June is an exceptionally wonderful female dog, but her gaze is unfortunately so infinitely sad… At the moment, she mostly sits anxiously on the shelter or hides in it. She clearly feels uncomfortable. It is difficult to establish contact with her, so it will be important that June is taken in and embraced by experienced dog people. June will surely thaw out quickly in a quiet environment if she realizes that everything is now good for her. For June, we wish for a patient, friendly, and loving interaction from experienced people who have no expectations of her and who are not intimidated by setbacks. Children should already be older and know how to handle dogs respectfully and responsibly. June wishes for a quiet home, preferably rural, with an enclosed garden and enough places to retreat if it gets too restless. She should always be allowed to set her own pace and be able to decide what is or is not feasible for her. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

About June

What life with June looks like

June is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting June, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about June?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw June on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt June if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is June already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if June isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know June and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
