Junior

Male · Senior · 12 years

Junior is trying very hard. We are trying to make him a fully urban dog. Although his shyness towards new situations and episodes of excessive excitement during walks are two behaviors that we are constantly working on, this white-brown four-legged friend constantly surprises us with his progress. With each visit to the animal shelter, we realize how intelligent and playful he is. He is not lacking in looks, energy, and openness towards "his own". What he lacks, however, is a stable, calm home. Now and forever. Junior's past is not fully known to us, but we doubt it was rosy. Our ward arrived terrified of everything happening around him. Before getting to know the volunteers, for several days he didn't want to go out for walks at all. Now he does so very willingly, submitting to new exercises and commands, and importantly in an urban environment, walks on a leash. Other dogs pass by with excessive excitement. He barks at them, and when he is barked at, he also doesn't lag behind. Unfortunately, quickly moving objects, especially cars, he considers as life enemies, and then he sometimes pulls. Therefore, the future caregiver must be attentive and careful during walks, devote attention to Junior, and effectively distract him from stressful stimuli. Once again we will write that none of the lessons taught to Junior go in vain, as volunteers could see during the debut of the puppy at the Adopt a Warsaw Dog event in Sowy Park in Warsaw. Walking among people, posing for photos, or even traveling by bus were no problem for him. As usual with dogs that are overwhelmed by new situations, we do not recommend Junior for a home with children. Although we don't believe that the dog has already entered the senior age, the caregiver should consider the need for diagnostic and extended veterinary care after adoption. Who then likes challenges? Who will teach Junior to be a 100% urban dog? Our ward needs someone who will become his guide and show him that the world can be a place full of safety and positive experiences. Such a pair will not find any puzzle scary anymore. Junior bardzo się stara. A my staramy się uczynić z niego w pełni psa miejskiego. To, czego mu natomiast brakuje, to stabilny, spokojny dom.

About Junior

What life with Junior looks like

Junior is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Requires muzzle training, reactive to cars and moving objects, needs ongoing behavioral work, may require senior dog veterinary care

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Junior, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Junior?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Junior on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Junior if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Junior already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Junior isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Junior and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
