Adopt Juno

Female · Senior · 10 years

The self-assured female dog Juno has her own mind and lives by her own rules. She accepts boundaries reluctantly and stubbornly tries to get her way. Her previous owners had her bite them multiple times for limitations, and she reacts to restrictions with snapping, even with us. Future owners must be very consistent and recognize and confidently correct her misbehavior. If she feels threatened or if someone touches her at a spot she finds uncomfortable, she advances without warning and snaps. This applies to her trusted people but especially to strangers. Vet visits are a red flag for her. If given too many freedoms, she would likely exhibit this problematic behavior in other, status-related situations. Generally, she is compatible with other dogs. At the animal shelter, she regularly goes on walks in a group, but her rules must be followed. She is very self-assured and dominant in social contact and does not like to be pushed around by other dogs. Life as a single dog would be best for her Juno loves water, and every stream is hers. She gets great joy from rolling in leaves or on a meadow. Her greatest passion is food, which makes her easy to entice and simplifies cohabitation. However, she is also ready to defend it, both against other dogs and humans. In principle, Juno is an unassuming female dog as long as no high expectations are placed on her. She enjoys going for walks, walks nicely on a leash, and is recallable in a run when she accepts her primary caregiver. We are looking for an even-tempered, quiet, and child-free home for Juno with experienced dog owners who are not intimidated by her dominant nature. Once status issues are discussed, you can surely spend several more pleasant years with her. Health care: What vaccinations are necessary, and what can I do to ensure my dog a long and healthy life? In this video, you will get an initial overview. Feeding tips: Watch this video if you want to learn more about the right feeding for your dogs. The video is meant to summarize the most important information. Of course, we are available for further information. This animal has a history of biting.

About Juno

What life with Juno looks like

Juno is a large senior dog waiting at Tierheim Hannover in Hannover.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Behavioral issues including biting history, resource guarding, and dominance. Requires experienced handler and single-level home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Juno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Juno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hannover handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Juno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Juno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hannover will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Juno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Juno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hannover early rather than rehoming privately; they know Juno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
