Adopt Ka

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 15 months

Ka is a real street dog - she was sitting exactly there, next to a busy road, and didn't dare to move forward or backward. Paralyzed by fear, all she could do was hope that some kind person would rescue her from this terrible situation. Actually, Ka was lucky, because a kind-hearted woman noticed the female dog and stopped to help. Eventually, the friendly lady simply picked up Ka and put her in the back seat, driving her grateful new friend to Arca Sevilla. When you look at Ka, you see a puppy, a funny little thing with wrinkles on her forehead and a coat that still needs to grow into. But in reality, our cute Ka is already about 15 months old, and that's great because it means she will keep her witty and brilliant appearance - and hey, Ka is really a real showstopper! The sweet lady, whose greatest hobby is giving kisses (that's just how they are, the Southern European women, even during a pandemic), is truly a sunshine. Cheerfully, Ka hops through life, enthusiastically explores toys and previously unknown, cozy sleeping spots, follows volunteers with her head tilted sideways, and has learned that the sad dog gaze combined with a 15-degree twist of the upper neck vertebrae almost certainly leads to an extra portion of love and in the best case, a cookie donation. Ka can't wait to finally get a real family, where she will be able to belong for the rest of her life. Our caramel-colored cream puff definitely doesn't need experienced hands, but for the sake of her slim figure and due to her already hardly matchable self-confidence, it probably wouldn't hurt if her future two-legged ones occasionally say a well-placed no when Ka opens her (well-filled) trick box to get her way at any cost. Beware - the look of our princess could probably melt even stones... can you (at least sometimes) resist?

About Ka

What life with Ka looks like

Ka is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
