KAIA

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Estimated date of birth: August 2019 Brief information: friendly, people-oriented, outgoing, cuddly, adventurous, curious, family-friendly, older children welcome, male dogs welcome, female dogs? Kaia, who was born in August 2019 according to her registration, was found on the street in June 2026 and brought to the animal shelter. There, a microchip was discovered, allowing the shelter to contact the registered owner. However, the owner stated that he had given the dog away to someone else. The new owner could not be reached, and since all vaccinations had expired, it seems that this person hadn't really taken care of Kaia at all. Thus, this sweet lady with the playful look is now waiting for a third chance—where she can finally find a home where she’s truly wanted, loved, and cherished. And that won’t be difficult at all, because Kaia is a friendly, people-oriented, and adventurous furry friend. She loves going for walks and exploring and sniffing out her surroundings. She gets along well with male dogs without any issues. Due to time constraints, she hasn’t yet been tested with female dogs, but we’ll be arranging this testing soon—and we don’t anticipate any difficulties here either. For our lovely Kaia, we’re looking for a home with loving people who have experience with dogs, willing to show her just how wonderful a dog’s life can be, and enjoy taking her on beautiful walks and outings together, followed by cozy cuddle sessions. Of course, she’ll still need to learn all the important aspects of daily dog life, but with the right support, she’ll surely pick up everything quickly. Kaia will move into her new home spayed, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and equipped with an EU pet passport. Would you like to give this delightful, middle-aged dog a wonderful home? Then we’d love to hear from you! The best way to do this is to use the self-disclosure form right away (or alternatively, you can also use the contact form).

About KAIA

What life with KAIA looks like

KAIA is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting KAIA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KAIA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KAIA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KAIA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KAIA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KAIA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know KAIA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
