Kaja

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

General Name: Kaja Gender: female dog neutered: No Born: ca. January 2026 Size: ca. still growing Current Location: 53332 Bornheim Patrons: no Reserved: no Character Kaja is a typically playful puppy, now searching for a new home in 56736 Kottenheim. In her current home, Kaja lives with another dog and shows herself to be outgoing and playful. She is also curious and open during walks when meeting other dogs. The small female dog has quickly learned to walk on a leash and has already understood commands like "sit." The puppy class still needs to be further learned by the little mouse. Thus, house training and staying alone still need to be further developed. Kaja originally came from a Romanian animal shelter and had the good fortune to come to Germany in mid-May. Kaja would definitely have fun attending a dog training class or puppy groups. We can imagine Kaja well in a home with other dogs, but this is not a must. Two weeks ago, Kaja was rehomed from her foster home into her new home. Due to the sudden change in the family's living conditions, the little Kaja is now searching for a loving new home again. Kaja is microchipped and vaccinated and will be rehomed through the association Friends Circle Emergency Aid e.V. If you are interested in Kaja, we look forward to some details about your living conditions. Past We are not aware of any past. She likely came from the street or was abandoned there. Notes The parent animals are not known, so no information can be given about the included breeds. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Kaja

What life with Kaja looks like

Kaja is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. in Dorsten.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
