Kaja

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Kaja is a mixed-breed female dog born in May 2025. A few days after her pregnant mother, Mona, was abandoned in front of the animal shelter in Svilos, Kaja was born together with her nine siblings at the shelter. She is now ready to travel abroad and is looking for loving people who can offer her a forever home. Kaja is a cheerful, lively dog whose open and affectionate nature quickly wins people over. She is very trusting, friendly, and thoroughly enjoys any attention she receives. She shows great openness toward people and loves being close to them. This energetic little dog is full of vitality and loves to move around. She looks forward to long walks, shared activities, and plenty of opportunities to run and play. Kaja is especially thrilled about toys—she particularly adores stuffed animals, which she chases with great joy. Kaja gets along extremely well with other dogs; we are not familiar with her behavior toward cats or other animals. We would like Kaja to find a loving home with active people who enjoy spending lots of time with her and providing her with both physical and mental stimulation. With her friendly, joyful nature, she will delight her new family anew every single day.

About Kaja

What life with Kaja looks like

Kaja is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
