Kali

Mastiff · Female · Young · 3 years

Kali is a lovely girl who is a joy to spend time with. She is a big fan of treats and will happily work for tasty rewards! She loves her toys and particularly enjoys a game of fetch. Kali has a good response to her name and already knows how to sit, so she has a great foundation for continuing her training with her new family. Kali enjoys spending time with other dogs and likes walking alongside them. Once Kali gets to know you, she is a real cuddle bug. She loves a good snuggle and enjoys a relaxing face massage, and if you're offering belly rubs, she'll happily accept those too! Kali can be worried by very loud noises, so her new family should be understanding of this and help her feel safe and secure when things get a little noisy. If you're looking for a loving, playful and affectionate companion with plenty of personality, Kali could be the girl for you. Lovely Kali is a 3-year-old Mastiff cross looking for a home where she can continue to flourish. Kali could potentially live with another dog and enjoys walking alongside her canine friends, but she would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home. She will need to live without cats or small furries, as she does have a chase drive towards smaller animals. We don't have any history of her around livestock. Kali can live with older, secondary school-aged children. She is generally very friendly with people, although she can be a little nervous when meeting some new people. Kali is housetrained and travels well in the car. She can be strong on lead at times, so her new family will need to be comfortable managing this. She could settle into either a quiet home or one with a reasonably busy household, as long as she has plenty of time to relax and enjoy her home comforts.

About Kali

What life with Kali looks like

Kali is a large young adult mastiff dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe in Ilfracombe.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kali, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kali?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kali on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kali if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kali already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kali isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ilfracombe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kali and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
