Kalle

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 4 years

Kalle is currently in Baden-Württemberg, where he unfortunately has no chances for rehoming. Start of a new life! The 4-year-old Kalle has been waiting over two years for his second chance at life in the animal shelter. He is a handsome male dog who hopes from his heart for his people who will show him that he doesn’t have to give up and that he deserves a home full of love and security. Kalle is very friendly towards people and gets along well with his trusted people. Even at the vet, he behaves well. He knows house life, is house-trained, and can stay alone without problems. On the leash, he walks well and can also pass other dogs without problems if guided properly. He is currently in training, showing great progress, and is good to handle when clear rules are set and consistently followed. With the right guidance, Kalle has the potential to become a loyal and reliable companion. Kalle is under muzzling obligation due to a biting incident with a dog in the past and has been officially classified as a “dangerous dog” by the authorities. This means that his new owners must fulfill certain official requirements – these can be met with the right attitude and support. What he needs: • a quiet home where he is welcome. No children, no other dogs, no cats. • Someone with a sense of duty and experience. • Someone who is not deterred by his past. We are searching for the needle in the haystack but we do not give up hope until we find the right people for him. Contact details: animal welfare association Ludwigsburg e.V. Kontaktdaten: Tierschutzverein Ludwigsburg e.V. About Kalle

What life with Kalle looks like

Kalle is a medium-sized adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Tierheimverein Erfurt in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheimverein Erfurt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheimverein Erfurt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheimverein Erfurt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
