adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Kalle can travel directly to his final home! His story: Cluj, Romania. Our beautiful Kalle is one of the dogs we rescued from the terrible shelter in Vaslui in 2022. In a pitiful state, 17 dogs reached us. It was truly a tragic sight. All were medically attended to and given some time to recover. All were housed in our private shelter in Fantanele. Most found homes already. Kalle remained in the shelter since then and unfortunately is also one of the long-term residents… Kalle is estimated to be around 4 years old and brings a delicate, medium size with 45 cm and 17 kg. Whatever happened to Kalle in his life – we will never know. Kalle has lost trust in people. He is very shy and prefers to hide in the farthest corner of his wooden hut. Kalle is certainly not aggressive – he simply has terrible fear. Probably the people who took Kalle’s trust away. It will certainly be people who must give it back to him. Therefore, we are searching for an especially empathetic, patient, and also experienced home for Kalle, that gives him the opportunity to have as much space and time as he needs to come around. It will certainly not always be easy, there might be setbacks. But without a person who takes Kalle by the paw and goes through his new life step by step with him, he will not find his way back. We hope for a loving foster or permanent home that goes the journey with Kalle. An experienced single dog home could also ease his integration. Our Kalle is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. He brings an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive Schenkst du Kalle das Ticket ins Glück?

About Kalle

What life with Kalle looks like

Kalle is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
