Kalma

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Kalma is looking for a home. She is about 3-4 years old and is a female dog who hasn't had an easy life. Her past has affected her psyche, so for a long time in the shelter we have been working on her socialization and trust in people. Kalma is a demanding dog - she needs her person and a responsible home that will be ready to spend time with her and put in the work for further socialization. Currently, she is in a foster home. Thanks to this, we know that she feels comfortable in home conditions, walks nicely on a leash and gets along well with other dogs and cats. She has become attached to her foster caregiver, but still needs time and work to fully trust people. We are looking for a permanent home for her, which will give her peace, patience and support. A home that will be ready to help her regain a sense of security and build a relationship based on trust. Kalma deserves a chance.

PL·Show original

Kalma szuka domu.

About Kalma

What life with Kalma looks like

Kalma is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
