Karel

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 9 months

Karel has been waiting for his forever home since 2019. 💔 It's been so many years... so many winters, springs, and days spent behind shelter walls. It's hard to believe this already older, small dog hasn't found his human in so long. 🥺 For years, Karel was one of those dogs that visitors simply didn't notice. He didn't rush to the bars, didn't beg for attention, couldn't show people how much he wanted to be loved. Fear was stronger than him. Karel was a very withdrawn and fearful dog, and we can only guess how someone must have hurt him once, since a person has been awakening so much fear in him for so long. 💔 Fortunately, thanks to the patient work and dedication of our shelter's caregivers, he has made beautiful progress. ❤️ Today he is a different dog than a few years ago. He still needs time, he is still afraid to establish closer relationships with a human and he strongly marks his uncertainty, but he shows more and more often that there is just a dog under this fear who would like to feel safe. Karel still requires work, patience, and great understanding. He needs a person who will not expect immediate love from him, but will allow him to trust at his own pace. We believe that with the right person, Karel can still open up to good. ❤️ Unfortunately, Karel is already an older dog and the passing years are also making themselves felt. The dog has a sick heart that requires constant care and treatment. 🥺❤️ That's why we would like even more that his autumn of life does not pass him in the shelter. How many more years does he have to wait? 💔 Karel has been invisible enough. He deserves a person who will see in him not a frightened dog from behind the bars, but an older, injured dog who despite everything that has happened to him still has a chance to learn that life can look different. 🥹🐾 🐶 DATE OF BIRTH: approx. 06/2018 🐶 CHIP: YES 🐶 SPAY/NEUTER: YES 🐶 VACCINATION: YES 🐶 DEWORMING: YES 🐶 FLEA TREATMENT: YES Contact us about adoption! ❤ ☎ 607 540 557 or email: 📩

Karel wciąż wymaga pracy, cierpliwości i ogromnego zrozumienia. 🥹🐾 🐶 DATA URODZENIA: ok. 06/2018 r. 🐶 CZIP: TAK 🐶 KASTRACJA: TAK 🐶 SZCZEPIENIE: TAK 🐶 ODROBACZENIE: TAK 🐶 ODPCHLENIE: TAK Skontaktuj się z nami w sprawie adopcji! ❤ ☎ 607 540 557 lub mail: 📩

About Karel

What life with Karel looks like

Karel is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
