Adopt Karlchen

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

shy, uncertain, curious Karlchen came to us at the animal shelter together with his friend Beppo. Both are missing a front leg. No one could tell us exactly what happened. The wounds were already completely healed and the fur had grown back over them. Karlchen we took in with Beppo and seven other dogs from a poor husbandry. Both are very shy and keep their distance. Their curiosity, however, keeps bringing them closer again. Maybe we can manage to thaw them a bit and with a lot of luck they will find a great home. Their life so far has not been very happy and we really hope that Karlchen will also have a happy ending soon. We are sure that he would enjoy the security of a family. They are all vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog we rehome makes space for a new dog from the street, who has to struggle through life hungry and emaciated.

scheu, unsicher, neugierig Karlchen kam zusammen mit seinem Freund Beppo zu uns ins Tierheim. Beiden fehlt ein vorderes Beinchen. Was genau passiert ist, konnte uns keiner sagen. AUFENTHALTSORT

About Karlchen

What life with Karlchen looks like

Karlchen is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karlchen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karlchen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karlchen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karlchen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karlchen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karlchen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karlchen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
