KARMEL

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

Karmelek is approximately 8 years old and is a wonderful dog. He has beautiful, reddish fur and an even more beautiful heart. He came to us as a dog found on the street. The beginning was not easy - for a long time he was very afraid of people and leashes. He needed a lot of time and patience to start believing that a human can mean something good. Today, Karmel is a completely different dog. He is happy to go for walks and really does well on them. Of course, sometimes he is still scared, and new situations or new surroundings can be difficult for him. At home, he may also need time to feel safe, and he will probably need a lot of understanding at the beginning. But Karmel is an incredibly brave dog and with a little patience will be a great companion for everyday life. He really likes people, especially those he already knows. When he meets someone and trusts them, he often comes to be petted and enjoys the contact. It is very touching to watch how an uncertain dog becomes more open and happy. Karmel also gets along well with most dogs. We are looking for a quiet, patient home for him, which will give him time to get used to the new place and will not expect everything to be perfect from day one. Karmel does not need a perfect person. He needs someone who will show him that he no longer has to be afraid. Karmelek is waiting for his chance. Maybe it's with you?

PL·Show original

About KARMEL

What life with KARMEL looks like

KARMEL is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting KARMEL, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KARMEL?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KARMEL on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KARMEL if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KARMEL already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KARMEL isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know KARMEL and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
