adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Katara was locally rehomed. Her story: Bistrita, Romania. The magical Katara was found with her three puppies by us. The puppies were locally rehomed, and now her mother is still searching for a nice home. Katara is approximately 2 years old and large. She is very loving and friendly to us humans and gets along exceptionally well with her fellow animals. We suspect that she is an Akita Inu-Mix. She is not submissive and has her own mind. However, she is also very eager to learn, intelligent, and very attentive, developing a strong bond with her primary caregiver. Due to her majestic origins, the Akita is not an easy breed to train. Training is demanding. An Akita must always understand the purpose of the knowledge and commands she is taught. Akitas should be challenged according to their nature. This can happen through tracking, scent work, or other forms of nose work. An Akita owner should also establish clear rules and be consistent in enforcing them, and always behave respectfully toward the dog—so the Akita feels at ease. Akitas are known to be balanced, obedient, loyal, and willful. For this reason, we see Katara less in an apartment but rather in a home where there is enough space for the wonderful female dog. She would also be delighted to attend positive reinforcement dog training classes. Katara will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated in her new home. She will of course bring her EU pet passport with her. For an adoption fee of 500 Euros and only after a positive assessment, the sweet female dog would also be delighted to have a foster home. Many thanks, Dominik. You gave Katara her name. As of: 31.03.

Vielen Dank Dominik. Du hast Katara ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 31.03.2024

About Katara

What life with Katara looks like

Katara is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
