Adopt Katja

European Shorthair · Female · Senior · 14 years

Katja is a loving, affectionate senior cat who thoroughly enjoys attention. She loves to snuggle and gladly rewards you with soft headbutts and contented purring. Katja regularly seeks contact by sitting nicely next to you, looking at you with her loyal gaze, or subtly asking for extra pets when you take a break. She also enjoys relaxing and taking naps. We are looking for a cozy household where someone is usually at home. Katja would not like being alone all day. Katja can potentially be placed with children aged 12 years and older. She will feel most comfortable if she is the only cat in the house, so she can have all the attention to herself. Katja can be placed as an indoor cat, provided there is enough space with multiple sleeping spots.

Ga terug

About Katja

What life with Katja looks like

Katja is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at Dierentehuis Arnhem in Netherlands.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Arnhem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Arnhem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Arnhem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
