Adopt Katy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

animal rescuer: Vania Tzoneva born: May 2022 Gender: female Location: Bulgaria spayed: yes FIV test: negative FeLV test: negative Disabilities: none compatible with: Children: not known Cats: yes Dogs: not known Requirements: NO single housing only suitable for apartment living, NO outdoor access Balcony or terrace desired (if available, the safety is required) Katy had a secure start in life - even though her path was not entirely easy. Her mother was seen again and again at the garden fence by Vania, heavily pregnant and looking for a safe place. Fortunately, Vania managed to take her in and gave her protection and a roof over her head. Soon after, her kittens were born. Four small kittens were born, but one of the little ones did not make it and died shortly after birth. Katy and the other two siblings, however, grew up safely and thus had the chance for a good life. Katy is a tabby who enjoys contact with other cats and feels comfortable and safe in the company of feline companions. However, she has always been very cautious towards people and this has unfortunately not changed so far. Even after all this time with Vania, she remains rather shy and is hardly touchable. She keeps her distance from people and does not approach them. Rather, she observes everything from a safe distance. Since there are so many animals living with Vania, there is unfortunately little opportunity to practice specifically with Katy and to give her more security in dealing with people. Therefore, we wish for Katy a quiet home with patient and empathetic people - perhaps with a true cat whisperer who shows her with much understanding and without expectations that people can also be wonderful. With time, patience and love, Katy might become a little braver with the right person. Such small miracles have often occurred in animal protection.

About Katy

What life with Katy looks like

Katy is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glücksnasen e.V. Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
