Kayron (vermittelt)

Male · Senior · 15 years

Regarding the ages mentioned here, they are often estimated values as we do not always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Kayron was born on 15.11.2011, male neutered dog, Rasse a successful mix, Größe small. Foster home Kayron has already found his new home. Unfortunately, due to a technical mishap, all photos were lost…. But thanks to the adopters and intensive research, we were able to find some again or new ones were sent to us. Many thanks to the adopters. When our Spanish friends Amalia and Marcos were picking up dogs for another organization in the Perrera of Almeria, Kayron was given back to his family there. The poor fellow didn't understand the world anymore and cried a lot. So they asked us for help for him. He is now in the dog shelter. As he is a very attached dog who bonds strongly with his people, he is also a bit sad there. We are therefore looking for a foster or, better yet, a permanent placement as soon as possible. Kayron arrived in Germany. Here is a first report from the foster home: Kayron is a truly poor fellow. At his family in Spain, he only learned how to get by when left on his own. When that became too exhausting, he was simply given back in the Perrera. Upon arriving in Germany, he thought he had to decide everything himself: where to walk, what belongs to him and what to others, and which dogs or people to trust and which not. When he moved in with us, his worldview must have been completely shattered. Not only can he walk on the leash without pulling and give back his chew toy! He is a truly worn-out fellow and bonds strongly with his people. In the field, he could walk without the leash after some time, always looking at us and coming to us when called. Driving with him works well, he is house-trained, and despite his attachment, he can be left alone for a good hour. With other dogs, Kayron is a bit split, getting along well with some but showing fear towards others (likely due to bad experiences with a large fellow animal). However, we can now easily pass by the command "look" with almost everything. We are looking for a dog-experienced and consistent home for Kayron that continues to teach him the "right behavior." Kayron would probably prefer to be an only dog, as he also gets jealous when it comes to "his" people. This wonderful dog deserves a second chance! Here are a few pictures. About Kayron (vermittelt)

What life with Kayron (vermittelt) looks like

Kayron (vermittelt) is a small senior dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kayron (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kayron (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kayron (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kayron (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kayron (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kayron (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kayron (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
