How do I contact the shelter about Keanu?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Keanu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Keanu if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Keanu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Keanu isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Keanu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Keanu Steckbrief ♂️ male 🎂 08/2025 (estimated) ⚖️ ca. 33-35 cm, 8-10 kg (estimated adult size) ✔️ vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed 📖 Bosnian pet certificate 🐈 compatibility with others: cat compatibility cannot be tested on-site at the shelter 📍 animal shelter Neverland (Bosnia) Hello, I'm the lovable Keanu! I almost didn't make it, as my mother and I were born in a deserted cottage in a rural area of Bosnia. Street dogs are highly unwanted there and are simply killed. 😢 Fortunately, we were discovered by kind people in time, sparing us that fate, and we grew up safe and loved in the animal shelter Neverland. 🙏♥️ We've all grown into magical young dogs here. The wife of shelter director Zox even says we're her favorites, she could cry how wonderful we are. 🤭😍 But everyone else here, both people and dogs, also find us absolutely amazing – it seems we really are great dogs. We're friendly, well-behaved, very social, playful, curious, and of course, super cute. 😇 While we're all loved here, it's now time to spread our (imaginary) wings and take off – into the big wide world, to discover everything and enjoy the wonderful life with the right people by our side. ☺️ If you'd like to teach me the entire dog ABC and have me as your faithful companion forever and ever, then please get in touch and ask about Keanu! I can't wait to finally be with you.

About Keanu

What life with Keanu looks like

Keanu is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stray Dogs Bosnien e.V. in Schwabach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
