KEES (M) 1 year - URGENT NEED FOR A TEMPORARY HOME OR ADOPTION BorderLineCollie Characteristics Birthday: 14/06/2022 Sex: Male Registered with LOF/LOSH/ISDS: No Disabilities: No Child compatibility: preferably not for now (see message below) Dog compatibility: to be tried (see message below) Cat compatibility: no Other compatibility: unknown Temperament For the family, Kees is a happy, gentle and affectionate dog. He is eager to learn and do things with you. Kees loves playing with water. The presence of strangers and children in the house is very stressful for Kees. Friends of children can no longer come to play, Kees barks loudly at them. Outside his familiar environment, Kees is unsure of himself, but once some issues are overcome, he becomes more and more confident. Although the owners have already done a lot to make Kees' life inside more pleasant, they have reluctantly decided to ask BorderLineCollie to find a more suitable home for Kees. History Kees arrived at his owners' home as a puppy. At the age of a few months, he was attacked twice by two different large dogs. Kees then started to show aggressive behavior on the leash towards (large) dogs. Kees also finds people and children he doesn't know very stressful. Thanks to training, this improves outside, but inside Kees is not at all comfortable with strangers. This has not yet led to unpleasant situations because his owners are "aware" and keep an eye on Kees. Kees is used to the crate, can be alone for a few hours a day and traveling by car is not a problem today. Kees knows basic commands. Outside, in the street, Kees shows a tendency to wander towards traffic.

About KEES

What life with KEES looks like

KEES is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Border Line Collie in borderlinecollie.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting KEES, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KEES?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Line Collie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KEES on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KEES if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Border Line Collie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KEES already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KEES isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Line Collie early rather than rehoming privately; they know KEES and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
