Kemal

Male · Adult · 8 years

Origin Country: Hungary The pretty Kemal was found homeless on June 14, 2021, in a neighboring community. He had a severe skin infection. Kemal had a chip, and the owner was informed, but he made it known that he did not want to take Kemal back. Perhaps for the better. With special food and care, his skin has healed. This "effort" was not worth it for his people. We hope he finds a new, loving home soon. Kemal is a loving and friendly dog. At first, he is a bit shy, but he quickly gains trust when he realizes that you mean him well. Then he enjoys cuddles and gratefully accepts every affection and attention. This was likely a lack in his previous life. The Dog ABC must still be lovingly taught to him, and he would also greatly appreciate physical and mental stimulation. With his fellow animals, he gets along well depending on their sympathy and would rather be a solo prince in his home. For our wonderful Kemal, we are looking for competent enthusiasts of this dog breed, with experience, who can lead him with love but consistency, give him love, security, care, and safety, explore the world with him, and ensure a carefree and happy life as a beloved family member and never leave him. On November 7, 2023, a shelter worker wrote: Amstaff-like dog, strong build. An active, energetic dog. His gaze is something special. Kemál walks on the leash, he likes to move and loves to sniff. He has been in our care since 2021. Kemal is looking for a master where he can be a solo dog and where he is trained and taken for long walks. On November 20, 2023, a mentor wrote: Kemal has been waiting for his dream master in the animal shelter for two and a half years. On the mentor day, he got the chance to make an exciting, thorough walk. It was a real treat for him, he was very happy and enthusiastic on the walk. A friendly, loving, people-oriented dog who wants to be fed and occupied daily according to his needs. Active, energetic, muscular body, 28 kg, sports, mental and physical exertion, regular daily walks – that would make him happy. He would like to move into his last home as a solo prince that offers security. A consistent, loving, patient person is sought who will give Kemal a lot of attention and care and can lead him clearly. Good luck and a new home, as soon as possible, dear Kemal! On July 24, 2025, a voluntary, Hungarian helper wrote: Kemal has been waiting for his dream home in the animal shelter since 2021. These four years are a very long time. Nevertheless, Kemal is always very happy and excited when he is allowed to go for walks with his caregivers. He is a loving, sweet, friendly, and people-oriented dog. He walks beautifully on the leash and enjoys every minute of the walk – because then he can be close to humans. His caregiver attends to his needs, and Kemal gets plenty of cuddles, encouraging words, and affection, which he desperately needs. He is smart, attentive, and more active – he also pays attention to his caregiver's instructions. With treats, he is easily motivated. Update from February 3, 2026: Unfortunately, due to an injury, a part of Kemal's tail had to be amputated. Cause of injury: unknown. Whom can Kemal give his heart to? Since Kemal is a list-hound mix, you should inform yourself about your community's housing conditions regarding their keeping conditions if you are interested in him. Kemal is travel-ready. In the name of Kemal, we thank Vera Berlese for taking over the sponsorship.

About Kemal

What life with Kemal looks like

Kemal is a adult dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kemal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kemal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kemal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kemal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kemal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kemal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kemal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
