Kenai

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Kenai is a neutered mixed-breed male born in May 2025 at the Svilos animal shelter in Serbia. His mother Mona was taken in pregnant and gave birth to nine puppies a few days later. Kenai is now ready to travel and is eagerly waiting for a loving home. Kenai is a gentle, reserved and friendly young dog who prefers a quiet and relaxed environment. He is open and accessible with people and enjoys being petted. His way of communicating is particularly charming - he likes to make sweet little sounds and noises that make his humans smile. Overall, Kenai is an extremely cuddly and affectionate young dog. He also behaves playfully and enjoys playing with balls and stuffed animals. Kenai gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company. A confident and social first dog could help him settle into his new home and give him additional security. His behavior towards cats and other animals is unknown. We are looking for a loving, patient and quiet home for Kenai, where he can arrive and finally experience the joys of dog life. Nice walks, enough exercise and cozy cuddle hours on the couch are a must. The dog's shoulder height is approximately 39 cm and he weighs about 15 kg.

About Kenai

What life with Kenai looks like

Kenai is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kenai, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kenai?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kenai on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kenai if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kenai already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kenai isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kenai and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
