Kendo

Male · Adult · 7 years

Kendo knows only homelessness. His mother was killed by a car and the puppy was left alone, wandering and fed by people. Since then he has been at the animal shelter and is trying to adapt to human requirements. He is a neat, delicate, small dog with incredibly long legs. Shy towards the world, people, other dogs and new places, but once he gets used to the situation, he has a lot of joy and cautious curiosity. Since he arrived, he has successfully refused to be leashed and therefore we were not able to introduce him to the outside world. Currently, Kendo goes with us on short walks behind the animal shelter, where there are no streets or too many strangers. He watches over us even though he walks slowly and then politely returns to his kennel. He runs more eagerly and happily when he has canine company. Kendo knows his name, comes to us, especially when we have something good in our hands and even when we don't, he can stand right behind our legs asking: Hello, what now? He joyfully greets familiar people from behind the bars of his kennel. He jumps onto the bench to sit down next to us. Still, in common understanding, he is an outgoing dog, because he spent a lot of time on the streets - that time can only be made up for at home. As is often the case with dogs raised on the street, in the field, for Kendo the whole world is other dogs. He becomes friends with many canine colleagues. He does not create conflicts and everyone likes him very much. He can play, but he is not overly active, too energetic, or pushy. Rather cheerful, gentle, delicate and stable. He will be a great addition to a family pet. Kendo also visited several homes with his volunteers. We wanted to check how he would feel in a house, which he had never seen before, and it went very well. Kendo is not afraid to walk on different surfaces, he knows that in the kitchen he can get something good, he immediately found the most comfortable dog bed and in the house he maintains absolute cleanliness. To help Kendo we need good will, a house with a garden, some experience with shy dogs, and good canine company. Support from volunteers and a behaviorist consultation at the animal shelter come with the puppy. We invite you to meet Kendo! Learn more here: [facebook]() [instagram]() [tiktok]() [youtube]()

Znajomych radośnie wita zza krat swojego boksu. Raczej wesoły, łagodny, delikatny i stabilny. Wsparcie wolontariuszy i konsultację behawiorysty w schronisku dajemy w pakiecie z dzieciakiem. Zapraszamy na spotkanie z Kendo! About Kendo

What life with Kendo looks like

Kendo is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs patience and socialization due to street background, requires yard and dog companionship

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kendo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kendo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kendo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kendo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kendo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kendo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kendo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
