Adopt Kenedijs

Male · 6 months

A 3-month-old puppy was found on the street, and even the so-called "dog catchers" admitted: this was the first time a puppy had to be put in a trap - so aggressive was the adolescent's behavior. The first days at the shelter were similar: only growling, showing teeth, and readiness to pounce immediately if someone stepped closer. This is very atypical behavior for a puppy. However, something similar had been seen two months earlier, when Kendija - a 4-month-old female dog - was brought from almost the same address (with a few houses in between). She was less aggressive, but still was. Over time, Kendija had already adjusted to the shelter. We took her to Kenedij, and the puppies recognized each other - yes, they are brother and sister. Kendija's presence allowed Kenedij to finally open up with trust and courage, setting aside his aggression. Kendija is now in her own home, but Kenedij's search for an owner is still ahead. The puppy has a delicate build, below average height (11-12 kg). He will be suitable for people with experience in raising dogs, without small children in daily life, and willing to socialize and train the puppy. Dog trainers believe that both dogs were kept without socialization, so when they entered a normal environment, their fears manifested as aggression. From Kendija's home, we already know that she quickly started protecting her owner (again awakening unseemly aggression), and Kenedij will also have situations where he growls angrily and otherwise "blows off steam." Therefore, in the first months, the dog will have to be trained, trained, and trained again, so that the remaining years together will be easy, pleasant, and enjoyable for everyone. We know - when you come to meet Kenedij, you won't believe that this sunbeam can be aggressive. Unfortunately, it can, so we emphasize once again: the dog is meant only for people with experience and willingness to work! Not for any mothers or grandmothers, so that everyday life in the country house is not boring.

About Kenedijs

What life with Kenedijs looks like

Kenedijs is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

Frequently asked

Adopting Kenedijs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kenedijs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kenedijs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kenedijs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kenedijs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kenedijs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kenedijs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
