Kenzie is a 25-year-old female mixed-breed shepherd dog, possibly with greyhound ancestry. She was rescued as a puppy from the streets with her mother and spent the first few months in a Kosovar animal shelter. I adopted her when she was around 8-9 months old. We worked hard on her training, and she has become a well-behaved dog with solid obedience. Once she settles in, she can stay home alone for several hours, doesn't bark (anymore), and is a great dog for restaurants and camping. Kenzie is used to cats, but has not had experience with children. She gets along well with other dogs, except when it comes to resources, in which case she can be assertive. When it comes to deer and rabbits, her instinct takes over. What's particularly lovely about Kenzie is her overflowing joy, her full-speed runs for fun, the poses she sleeps in, and how she stands on three legs to be petted on the inside of her thigh. A challenge with Kenzie is that she has lived with many fears due to a lack of socialization as a puppy. We have overcome most of them, but some still remain (insects, wind/thunderstorms, train rides). She can react panicked in these situations. Overall, Kenzie is easily unsettled and needs a stable home with a lot of consistency - something I unfortunately cannot provide. If the new home is nearby, I can consider taking Kenzie over for the weekend. Windhund) Farbe: braun-beige Alter: 25.01.2022 Geschlecht: Weiblich Kastriert: Ja Verzichtgrund: Berufliche Veränderung Eigenschaften: Kenzie wurde als Welpe mit ihrer Mama von der Strasse gerettet und verbrachte die ersten paar Monate in einem kosovarischen Tierheim. Ich bekam sie mit ca. 8/9 Monaten. Wir haben viel gearbeitet und aus Kenzie wurde ein gutverträglicher Hund mit solidem Gehorsam. Wenn sie sich eingelebt hat, kann sie auch bestens einige Stunden alleine zu Hause bleiben, sie bellt nicht (mehr) und ist ein tiptopper Restaurant- und Campinghund. Kenzie ist an Katzen gewohnt, Kinder gab es in ihrem Umfeld bisher nicht. Wenn sie Hunde kennenlernen kann, ist sie gut verträglich, ausser es geht um Ressourcen, dann kann sie auch mal deutlich den Ton angeben. Bei Rehen und Hasen setzt das Hirn aus und der Instinkt übernimmt. Besonders schön an Kenzie ist, wie sie sich überbordend freuen kann, wie sie Vollgas zum Spass über Wiesen rast, in welchen Posen sie schläft, und dass sie sich auf drei Beine stellt, um innen am Oberschenkel gestreichelt zu werden. Schwierig an Kenzie ist, dass sie aufgrund mangelnder Sozialisation im Welpenalter mit vielen Ängsten gelebt hat. Die meisten haben wir wegbekommen, einige sind noch da (Insekten, Wind/Gewitter, Zug fahren). Sie kann dann panisch reagieren. Insgesamt lässt Kenzie sich recht schnell verunsichern und braucht ein stabiles Zuhause mit viel Konstanz – das kann ich ihr leider nicht bieten. Falls das neue Zuhause in der Nähe ist, kann ich mir vorstellen, Kenzie mal übers Wochenende zu übernehmen.
