Adopt Kerrygold

Male · Kitten · 11 months

Our young tomcat Kerrygold is an absolute sunshine: Very social, friendly, and wonderfully compatible with both people and other cats. He loves company and genuinely enjoys visitors – so much that he sometimes even wags his tail like a dog. A small, playful quirk that makes him uniquely special. Typical of a young kitten, Kerrygold is playful, curious, and full of explorer spirit. He wants to explore the world, play, snuggle, and simply be there all the time. To ensure he doesn’t feel alone when his people don’t have time, he should move out together with one of our other young sniffle-kittens. A feline buddy by his side is very important for him. Unfortunately, Kerrygold – like all in his family – is suffering from chronic cat flu. This is a complex illness triggered by various viruses like Calici- and Herpesviruses. Currently, he shows hardly any symptoms, and in a loving home with less stress and lower viral load than in the animal shelter, it’s possible that he will remain symptom-free. In the best case, he might even not have any outbreaks in the future. A secure balcony would of course be a nice extra, but it’s not a must. General interested party inquiry:

Allgemeine Interessentenanfrage:

About Kerrygold

What life with Kerrygold looks like

Kerrygold is a small puppy/kitten cat waiting at Tierheim Ettlingen in Ettlingen.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kerrygold, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kerrygold?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ettlingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kerrygold on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kerrygold if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ettlingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kerrygold already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kerrygold isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ettlingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kerrygold and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
